This policy explains how FT Upholstery uses personal information when you visit our website, ask about a project or request newsletter updates.

Who is responsible for your information?

Andrew Taft, a sole trader trading as FT Upholstery, is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Our website is ftupholstery.co.uk.

Quote enquiries and photographs

Our quote form collects your name, email address, selected service and message. You can also upload photographs of your furniture. If you contact us by email or phone, or arrange work, we may receive further project details, contact information and a collection or delivery address.

We use this information to assess your project, respond to you, prepare a quotation and arrange any work you ask us to undertake. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and performing a contract when work is agreed. For general correspondence, our legitimate interest is responding to people who contact our business.

Enquiries and uploaded photos are sent to ftupholsteryuk@gmail.com through Gmail. A copy of the enquiry and photos is also kept in private website records accessible to authorised website administrators. Submitting photos does not publish them in the gallery or enrol you in marketing.

Please send only information needed for your project. Avoid including people, private documents or other unnecessary personal details in photographs. Original photo files may include camera or location metadata; remove this before uploading if you do not want to share it.

You are not legally obliged to contact us. The form requires a name, email address and message so we can understand and answer your request. Photos are optional, although they may help us assess the work. We do not make decisions about your enquiry solely by automated processing.

News from FT Upholstery and Flo’s Treasures

Newsletter updates are optional. If you tick the newsletter box and submit your email address, we use your consent to send the shared email news described on the form, covering FT Upholstery and Flo’s Treasures.

Your signup request, the date and your consent statement are emailed to the FT Upholstery team for manual processing. Your email address and opt-in details may be used by the team preparing this shared newsletter. We do not add quote enquiries or their photos to the newsletter list.

You can withdraw consent or object to marketing at any time by emailing ftupholsteryuk@gmail.com with “Unsubscribe”, or by replying to a newsletter asking to be removed. You can still enquire about upholstery without subscribing. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful use of your information.

Website operation, cookies and outside links

GoDaddy hosts this WordPress website. Hosting and security tools may process technical information such as IP addresses, requested pages, browser details and access times to deliver the site, detect misuse and investigate faults. Our legitimate interests are keeping the website available and protecting enquiries from spam and abuse. The form’s rate limit uses a temporary, protected hash of an IP address for approximately one minute.

Google Analytics has been switched off. GoDaddy also supplies tools that measure connection and page-load performance. These hosting tools are separate from Google Analytics. WordPress uses cookies for administrator sign-in and related settings; visitors do not need an account to browse the site or request a quote.

You can manage or clear cookies using your browser settings. Restricting necessary cookies can affect features such as administrator sign-in. Before introducing optional analytics or advertising tracking, we will update this notice and provide cookie choices where required.

The website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google to request those files and sends technical request information, including your IP address. See Google’s Privacy Policy for how Google handles this information.

Google Maps, Google reviews, Instagram, Facebook and Flo’s Treasures are reached through links. When you follow a link, the destination’s own privacy and cookie policies apply. Selected reviewer names and short review excerpts shown on this site come from publicly available Google reviews; our legitimate interest is showing feedback about our work. Who receives information and where it is processed

Information is available to Andrew and authorised people helping administer enquiries or the website. Service providers involved in handling it include GoDaddy for hosting, backups and website operation, and Google for Gmail and externally supplied fonts. Newsletter opt-in details are used only for the shared FT Upholstery and Flo’s Treasures updates you request. We do not sell personal information.

We may also disclose information where required by law or where necessary to obtain professional advice or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Google and GoDaddy operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Google describes its international safeguards, including the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable, in Google’s transfer framework information. Gmail is a consumer email service governed by Google’s own privacy terms. GoDaddy’s Data Processing Addendum provides for the UK–US Data Bridge and UK transfer agreements where applicable. How long information is kept

Retention depends on the purpose of the record. We consider whether an enquiry is still active, whether it leads to work, and whether records are needed for follow-up, accounting, legal obligations or resolving a dispute. We keep relevant information for those purposes and remove information that is no longer needed.

Website enquiry records and Gmail messages are separate copies. Sending the email does not automatically delete the website copy. Email delivery logs are currently configured to be kept for 14 days. Backup copies may remain until replaced during the hosting provider’s backup cycle.

Newsletter contact details are kept while you wish to receive updates. After an unsubscribe request, a limited record of the opt-out may be retained to help prevent further marketing. Consent records may also be kept where needed to demonstrate how a signup was received.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access your personal information, correct it, have it erased, restrict its use or receive a portable copy. You can also object to uses based on legitimate interests. Some information may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or deal with legal claims.

You have the right to object to direct marketing at any time. Use the unsubscribe contact above. For any other privacy request, email ftupholsteryuk@gmail.com. We may need enough information to verify your identity and locate the relevant records.

Questions or complaints

Please contact Andrew if you are unhappy with how your information has been handled. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, through the ICO complaints page or by calling 0303 123 1113.

We will update this notice if the website or the way information is used changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
